In Kentucky, the Kentucky
Higher Education Assistance Authority provides loans to qualified
students. Financial aid is also available from the United
States Department of Education in the form of grants, loans,
and work-study assistance. These

Financial Assistance Programs are the largest source of financial

Workforce
Investment Act (WIA)
The Workforce
Investment Act of 1998 was enacted to consolidate, coordinate,
and improve employment, training, literacy, and vocational rehabilitation
programs in the United States. In Kentucky, the
Office of Employment and Training is the state agency responsible
for the administration of the employment and training programs funded
by WIA. Services are available to eligible adults, youth, and
dislocated workers. The
Western
Kentucky Workforce Investment Board (WKWIB) oversees the WIA
programs in the Pennyrile area and has locations at JobNet in Madisonville
and at the Breathitt Career Center
in Hopkinsville..
